About JTDS

The Jharkhand Tribal Development Society has been registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860, primarily to implement tribal development projects of Government of Jharkhand, Government of India and multilateral organizations after the termination of the earlier project. For implementation of the new Jharkhand Tribal Empowerment and Livelihood Project (JTELP) it has been established 14 Project Management Units (DPMUs)/Offices in the districts where the project activities has been carried out and a State level Project Management Unit (SPMU)/Office at Ranchi.

At the Districts, JTDS will be headed by the District Program Manager and assisted by program officers.

The JTDS program seeks to develop and implement a replicable model that ensures household food security and improves livelihood opportunities and overall quality of life of the Tribal population based on sustainable and equitable use of natural resources.

The Programme implemented by JTDS is led by its the state level Project Management Unit, the State Project Management Unit (SPMU) has been formed and staffed with a team of dedicated development professionals. The Society is headed by a State Programme Director (SPD). Along with SPD, various functional specialists are positioned as Additional Project Director, State Project Managers and Project Managers, to oversee and manage the various functions within the Project. The allocation of roles and responsibilities of this State Project Team will follow a matrix structure where they will be responsible for a function (specialized and thematic) and a district during project implementation.

At the Districts, JTDS will be headed by the District Program Manager and assisted by program officers.

The structure of the organization is based on a model where the functions within the project will be implemented or facilitated through engagement of NGOs in each district by using an outsourcing partnership model.

The financial function of the society and project will be managed by a Finance and Administration Manager at the SPMU and the Finance and Administration Officer at the districts, who will be responsible for both the fiduciary governance of the project funds as well as introduction of best business processes to ensure timeliness of funds flow to the field based community organizations.
